Mr. ADNAN ALAM AWAN
Director Incharge, Islamabad H-8 Office
Mr. Adnan Alam Awan is working as Director Incharge H-8 regional office, Islamabad. Formerly, he was Director of Western Zone and Paleontology & Stratigraphy branch, Quetta. Previously he served as Director Incharge, GSP Regional office Peshawar and Geoscience Advance Research Laboratories, Islamabad. Mr. Adnan Alam Awan has been involved in geological mapping projects in Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan during his career but his prominent contribution is in the field of Geological Hazards and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). He accurately predicted Atta Abad, Hunza Landslide during 2009, just four months prior to the disaster. On his report government evacuated 103 families, approximately 600 persons from the area prior to disaster and hundreds of lives were saved.
He has been responsible as Project Manager for GSP’s International collaboration with Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), Germany, “Geohazard Assessment in Northern Pakistan” and also as GSP Project Manager for technical collaboration with Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble and the University of Savoie, Chambery, France in the field of Neotectonics and Quantification of Seismic Deformation in Northern Pakistan. He has organized numerous national and three international workshops as key organizer/event manager in Pakistan.

Mr. Khalid Khan
Director Incharge, Islamabad H-8 Office
Mr. Khan graduated from Department of Geology as Master of Science in Geology, Peshawar University with specialization in Petroleum Geology in the year 1999-2000. He joined an Oil and Gas Exploration Company as “Geologist” in 2002 and served there till 2006. Later on, selected as Assistant Director, Geological Survey of Pakistan and remain on the same position till promoted as Deputy Director in 2016. He served in Headquarter office Quetta and divisional offices Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad.
Later on, he was inducted as Director in GSP through departmental direct induction policy in 2019 and currently serving as Director (Incharge), H-8, regional office, Islamabad. He has the privilege to attend various courses in the area of his interest in-country and abroad. He attended a course “Disaster risk management” in Tokyo & Hirosaki University Japan (2010) and in Chengdu, Sichuan, China (2016). His main area of interest is Petroleum Geology, Geological mapping, Geohazard, and mineral exploration in metallogenic belt of northern Pakistan.
