Director, GARL

Mrs. Naghmah Haider, Director incharge of Geoscience Advance Research Laboratory (GARL). She did her masters in Geology in 1996 from the University of Karachi. She joined Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) in 1996 as Research associate in and was appointed to the post of Assistant Director in 2005. She was promoted as Deputy Director in 2014. She is the only geologist in GSP who has working experience on Wavelength dispersive X-ray Fluorescent spectrometry, Energy dispersive X-ray Fluorescent spectrometry, Inductively Coupled Mass spectrometry, Atomic Absorption spectrometry, X-ray Diffractometer, Differential, Thermal Analyzer, Scanning Electron Microscope with EDS & Cathodoluminescence, Petrography and Gems Identification. Also, working experience on ARCGIS and ERDAS imagine software for GIS-based maps. She got training from MTA Turkey on GIS and Remote Sensing. She prepared Geographical Information System (GIS) based Mineral Map of Pakistan. She was a Member of National Geological Society of Pakistan (1999-2005). Her name was included in 2002 in the list of Productive Scientist of Pakistan from the Ministry of Science and Technology. She has over 33 national and international publications to her credit. She conducted various courses in the field of Petrography, Gemology and Instrumental chemical Analysis of rocks and minerals.
