Jehlum River at Thotha (LOT-C2)

The site C-02 of “Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Electric Project” is located near Ghari-Dupatta in District Muzaffarabad, Jhelum Valley. It is an aerial distance of about 10 km Southeast of Muzaffarabad. This part is situated in the Survey of Pakistan toposheet No. 43-F/12. The accessibility to C-02 is very easy and can be approached through a metalled road in Jhelum Valley at distance of about 15 km.

The purpose of 1 the project is to get maximum information about the subsurface for passing tunnel of the project at certain level to avoid failure of the project. Hence, the diamond core drilling was carried out at “Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Electric Project” in District Muzaffarabad by the Geological Survey of Pakistan. Therefore, this task was given to Geological Survey of Pakistan for drilling two deep holes at site C-02, up to the depth of 250 m each on the left & right bank of Jhelum River in Jhelum valley. The task was successfully achieved and the tunnel design was finalized by the consultants at the appropriate depth.
